BATTLE CREEK
Released : 1 MARCH 2015
Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) has grown jaded and disenchanted in his job at the underfunded police station of Battle Creek, Michigan. When charismatic Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) arrives and opens an FBI field office in the building, he chooses Russ to be his partner. Russ doubts the trustworthiness of charming Milt, who has quickly won favour in the town. As Russ searches for Milt’s Achilles heel (a frequent refrain throughout the series), a double homicide befalls the town, and the two must learn to work together.
Expect moral binds, drug busts, kidnappings, assassination attempts and witty interplay between two unlikely partners with wildly different world views.
The show, appearing on the CBS network, was created by Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad) and David Shore (House) – teasing an exciting partnership in the show’s creation, as well as on-screen. The pilot, which establishes the fraught but funny dynamic between Milt and Russ, was directed by Bryan Singer. Aside from the leads, other notable actors frequent the series: Meredith Eaton is a compelling coroner with a crush on Milt, and Janet McTeer (two-time Oscar nominee) is the police commander. Despite receiving positive reviews, this one-series-wonder ended after thirteen episodes.
