The Struckers are an ordinary suburban family until, one day, Caitlin (Amy Acker) and Reed (Stephen Moyer) make the life-altering discovery that their children have developed special powers. The children, Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind) and Andy (Percy Hynes White) are in fact, mutants. Both children are involved in an incident at school which soon attracts the attention of a sinister government agency, Sentinel Services. This anti-mutant group begin pursuing the Strucker children, forcing the family to go on the run. As the series continues the family strive to evade capture, and they learn more about the atrocities committed against mutants at the hands of humans. They seek refuge within the Mutant Underground and join forces with others in the “mutey” community.
In Season 2 of The Gifted, Sentinel Services become even more ruthless and the manipulations of the Inner Circle cause constant strife for the Mutant Underground. Expect treacherous plots, tragic sacrifice and many nods to the X-Men films series. In a tense world where mutants are treated with suspicion, will the mutants succeed in their plight to achieve peaceful co-existence with humanity?
Set in the X-Men universe, The Gifted was produced by 20th Century Fox Television in association with Marvel Television, with Matt Nix as showrunner. Receiving positive reviews from critics, the show is comprised of 29 episodes over two seasons.
